FAQ's
Q:What are the common benefits of wood waste combustion for our business?

A: There are many benefits of wood waste combustion.  One benefit is avoiding variable costs of wood waste disposal and fossil fuel.  Budgeting for these variables can be difficult and costly, and can be replaced by a single fixed costs which is predicable and long term.  Another obvious benefit is the reduced cost of operation, making your  company more competitive.  Going green is a step towards being an environmentally responsible company which can be benefit for marketing and sometimes a requirement  for some bid projects.

Q: Can you provide a turn-key project?

A: Yes.  In most cases however, we find that the most cost effective and efficient way is to utilize subcontractors and suppliers for trades such as building, mechanical, and electrical contractors  who you might have an established working relationship. Your current vendors and contractors are likely to be the ones responding locally to any equipment repair or maintenance. We normally  provide core and ancillary equipment installation and a turn-key design and project management service which utilizes your existing resources at the lowest cost. We are happy to work with your contractors or provide them ourselves, as the project manager.
Q:  Can the combustion system be installed inside of our building?

A:  Yes, in most cases.  The wood fired combustion systems are insulated to avoid any high temperature surfaces.  The combustion chamber is completely protected and insulated. Multi level fire suppression  at the in-feed auger insures that any potential for burn back is protected against, even in the event of power loss.   As a general rule underwriting from insurance companies accept the fire suppression, however we suggest that you check  with your insurance company specifically.

Q:  Are emissions a problem?

A:  A clean environment is always a concern.  Each state and region has individual air emissions requirements. The requirements for your application must be looked into. The key to good emissions are good controls, combustion designs and maintenance. The air quality authorities vary greatly in their standards, so each case has to be looked at in an individual basis. The local air quality requirements will dictate the type of flue gas control equipment required.  Northline can help with the initial assessment and permitting.  We carry only efficient and clean burning equipment with good controls, therefore, emission standards can be met or exceeded.

Q: What if my fuel has MDF or particle board?

A:  Typically MDF or particle board is not a problem. With the high temperatures and advanced controls the resins and glues are burned off with negligible effect. We can consult with you on your fuel and advise you of the potential for problems and solutions. Fuels vary on their combustion and emissions properties so we analyze each application individually to assure performance of the boiler in relation to your particular fuel.
